Supplementary exam renamed as compartment
Panaji: In line with other States, the Goa government has done away with the term ‘supplementary’ examination by replacing it with ‘compartment’ from the coming academic year.
Along with the change in nomenclature, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has also decided to identify students – failing in maximum two subjects to re-appear for the exam – as ‘under compartment’ candidates.
As per the circular signed by the GBSHSE Secretary Shivakumar Jangam, the changes will be applicable for Class XI and XII candidates failing in one or two subjects from March 2016 exams.
“The remark on the statement of marks-cum-certificate of such candidates shall be ‘under compartment.’ This examination will be held immediately after 20 days of the declaration of the HSSC results,” the circular reads.
It also states that the pattern and syllabus of the question paper for March examination will be as per the prevailing academic year, while the same for the June and October exams will be as per the preceding March examination.
“The option for old pattern/syllabus shall cease to exist from that academic year from the time the new pattern/syllabus is in force,” Jangam said.
