Government to set up panel to improve education in Goa
MARGAO: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Sunday said that the state government will constitute a bal shiksha committee to suggest ways for improving elementary education.
Speaking at the concluding function of Bal Shikshan Parishad here, he said the committee will not involve politicians but educationists, who have vast experience in the field of education.
Stating that children are the future of tomorrow, but their tomorrow will be decided today, the Chief Minister said, “Earlier in Goa, we had to depend on other states for skilled staff to work in various departments but today the state has produced people in all fields who are spread not just in India but rest of the world.”
Later, speaking informally to media, Parsekar said that the government can take decisions on forming such committees and need not place them before the Assembly. He said the committee will have a role to suggest ideas to the government on child education.
Meanwhile, Parsekar said that the state government has proposed to construct guest rooms at Pandharpur for Goan pilgrims. He said that the government has spoken to the local committee and if it provides land, the government will provide accommodation facility for the benefit of pilgrims.
