Carmel college gets ‘A’ from NAAC
Panaji: After Assagao’s DM’s College was awarded an ‘A’ grade last month by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem – too has earned the same grade this month. Of the 26 colleges in Goa, only six have been awarded an ‘A’ grade by the NAAC so far.
Members of the NAAC peer team visited Carmel College for Women from March 10 to 12, 2016, under the chairpersonship of Professor K Sudha Rao, who is a former vice-chancellor, KSOU, Mysuru.
Principal of Changu Khana Thakur College in Mumbai, Siddheshwar Gadade is the coordinator and professor Pratibha Sharma from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, were part of the team.
The team spent two working days evaluating every department and facility at the college. They inspected the infrastructure, ICT facilities on campus, the laboratories and hostel.
The peer team held dialogue and discussion with the Goa University vice-chancellor Dr Satish Shetye and deputy director of higher education Dr Remy Dias over the social and educational impact of the college in the state.
The peer team also interacted with the students, administration and support staff, and alumni of Carmel College.
The peer team was appreciative of the teaching-learning processes, outreach and cultural activities at the college. tnn
