Untrained teachers put on notice
Panaji: The education department has reminded untrained elementary teachers of the last opportunity to acquire requisite professional qualification of diploma in elementary education (D El Ed) to qualify to teach at the elementary level.
Unqualified teachers serving in government-aided, unaided and special schools who fail to enrol on or before September 15, are liable to face removal and dismissal, director of education G P Bhat stated in a circular.
Any teacher without the minimum qualification mandated under the RTE Act 2009, will not be allowed to continue in service beyond April 1, 2019.
All regular, untrained elementary-level teachers, including head of schools teaching in government-aided, unaided and special schools, have to complete the D El Ed course by open distance learning through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) website.
