The deputy director of education Bhagirath Shetye assured that all the self help groups, which supply mid-day meals to primary schools, will be paid on time, and also expressed happiness over the quality of food supplied as very few complaints are received.
Shetye was speaking at a convention, organised by North Goa education zonal office, Mapusa. In the first-of-its kind convention, representatives of more than 20 self help groups attended it.
A cooking competition was also organised. The chief guest for the convention was councillor Tushar Tople. Others present for the convention were ADEIs Sangita Mandrekar, J C Pereira, and David Noronha, dietician Varsha Tople and Kusum Salkar, president of primary schools of Bardez.
Speaking further, Shetye said that it is really important that mid-meals supplied are of good quality and tasty so that the students would relish it.
Tople said, “Self help groups which supply mid-day meals are normally called for pointing out their mistakes by management but it is for first time that a convention is organised to appreciate the hard work of the self help groups.”
Commenting on the existing building of North Goa zonal office, he said that the upgradation of North Goa zonal office building is one of his dreams and in this regard he has already spoken with the Chief Minister.
