PANAJI: Goa has filed an intervention application in the Supreme Court praying that the state may be allowed to admit students to the medicine and dentistry degree seats in Goa through the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) in 2016-17. The intervention application prays to the SC that ‘in the alternative, allow all students in Goa to appear in the NEET examination to be held on July 24, 2016.’
Two officials from the Goa directorate of technical education (DTE) went to Delhi to file the application on behalf of the state. Officials said that the application has been accepted and is to be heard now. The matter is likely to come up for hearing on Tuesday before the special bench of Supreme Court.
Around 3,500 students from Goa, who aspire for an MBBS and BDS seat, are affected by the recent SC judgement.
