Margao: The state tribal welfare department and the state commission for SC/ST have organized a 45-day training programme for students of Class XII belonging to SC/ST community who wish to appear for Goa CET examinations. The training course will begin from March 24 at two centres, Margao and Panaji, tribal welfare minister, Ramesh Tawadkar, told mediapersons on Wednesday.
“While the state government has introduced 21 schemes aimed at empowering the tribal community, stress has been laid on the education sector for the last three years, and at least eight schemes pertaining to education are being implemented. We introduced the GCET training course, as we found that tribal students are lagging behind in such exams. In order to prepare them for the exams we have started this training course,” Tawadkar said, adding that students from even remote areas of the state like Kuskem in Canacona and Netravali in Sanguem, will be attending the classes, buses for which will be provided to ferry them to their respective centres.
Of the 247 applications received for the purpose, 100 students will be selected.
