Excellence will be highlighted: GBSHSE

Answer sheets of meritorious students will be uploaded online for others to learn

PANJIM: After resisting putting up the merit list to discourage negativity amongst the students with lesser academic intelligence, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has now decided to put up the answer-sheet of meritorious students online to encourage others to write like them.
The Class X (SSC) examinations will be tentatively held from April 2 to April 13, while the Board will conduct the HSSC or Class XII exams from March 1 to March 26, 2019. Around 18,750 students have registered themselves for SSC exams, while another 17,025 students for HSSC.
Speaking to Herald, GBSHSE chairman Ramakrishna Samant said the Board has decided to put up online answer-sheets of the meritorious students, which will help the students answering 2018 examination to know how question paper needs to be solved. “It is an opportunity for the students to score maximum marks also,” he said.
The answer-sheets of the top scorers in physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology and language papers would be uploaded on the Board website www.gbshse.org in next one week.
“The student’s identity will not be revealed during the process. We feel that the move will help students to prepare well for the examinations, especially for such difficult papers,” Samant said urging students to take benefit of the same.
This year 4,787 students from the science stream have registered for HSSC 2018 examination, while another 5,186 are from commerce stream, 4,140 from Arts and 2,912 from vocational.
As per the time table, the exam for HSSC will begin with a language paper for students of arts, science and commerce streams and it will end also with a language Paper II for the students. The students of science stream can have some sigh of relief as there is required gap to prepare for examination for Chemistry (March 6), Biology (March 11) and Mathematics (March 13).
